I think I choose to stick with things when I know I can’t live without it

Thank you for this. Some true and powerful lessons.

Jeen-yuhs was so inspiring I had to watch it twice! Man thank GOD for Coodie if it wasn't for him and his patience we would not have been able to witness Kanye's journey. Everybody needs a Coodie on their team, some who sees something in you, believes in you especially when you're starting out - this is the hardest part.

One of my favourite scenes was with Miss Donda West, man the belief she had in Kanye, the confidence and intelligence she instilled in him its no surprise to see why he has so much belief in himself today. Donda West is the Foundation of Kanye. May she continue RIP.

As for Kanye, I have always been a fan of him and this documentary has given me so much understanding into who he is (thank you Coodie!).

1) Kanye has always believed in himself and has never wanted to be boxed in one category cue the scene of him in the car saying 'people think I have made it being a producer this might be their American dream but I have dreams bigger than this'(or something along those lines).

2) Manifestation is real - he used to practice his Grammy speech on his way to catch the train! (Watch his first grammy speech) And we all know today Kanye always speaks things into existence.

3)Kanye bum -rushing the Roc-Fella offices playing his CD with the now known hit 'All Falls Down' despite being ignored by execs. Firstly to have that much self belief and confidence in yourself is just Wow! He has remained consistent. His conviction and self belief has never wavered, if Kanye believes in something he goes for it, it doesn't matter who is saying what.

4)Like he said he used anything that could have been be a disadvantage to his advantage. Back then Kanye didn't fit into the stereotype of a rapper, but he believed through his life experiences he had a story to tell. Until today Family Business is one of the realest songs I can truly relate to as are many of his other songs.

To anyone reading this Keep Your Head Up, Believe in yourself and whatever it is you're pursuing.

This is powerful. thanks for sharing.

finished watching the first act so inspired for things i’m building through negative feedback and challenges, and i guess that’s the ultimate point of the documentary is like it says in the alchemist “when you want something (invest time, energy, thought, words, work) the universe conspires for you to achieve it. eventually.

Thanks for sharing Abiola!

I watched this last night so you can probably tell why I’m fresh on this post so quickly!

I left that docuseries saying “man like Coodie, you know!” He’s totally a jeen-yuhs too. The ability to see and follow the what he understood to be greatness and to ride with him is mind blowing.

It’s definitely a helpful narrative, so far at least, on what sticking it out when you’re passion-led looks like.

Super keen to watch the rest of it and thankful to Coodie that I can, that we all can. Man like Coodie!
