before i get into it, a friend asked me: “what’s abiola’s archive?” it’s the catchall name for everything on this substack newsletter. all the things I do now live here. hope that helps!
january is pretty much is over.
to be honest, i’m kind of sad about that.
you no longer can lean on ‘it’s the new year, i’m warming up’ as a crutch for all the things that may or may not be moving slowly.
go hard or go home (in the nicest way possible). it’s been chaotic… like this video (ignore the colouring)
sidenote — i love tiktok, here are some things i’ve enjoyed a lot recently

i can’t believe how many years i spent not advocating for myself. so seeing this felt very relevant. speak up. let’s not sugarcoat things.

did I just start a new series?
it began where it usually begins for me: with fashion.
i wore my CRUEL heels out in paris (see image below, not for the faint-hearted) and thought about how for me, purchasing these now-vintage pieces is a form of art collecting.
art history, if you will. this thought sent me on 4-day flow, sharing things that have shaped my ‘taste level’ since I was a child. so now, i’m sharing that with you… for those who care #arthistory
‘taste’ is an interesting thing. i never gave it much thought beyond someone I knew who had a blog called the taste level during uni. recently, it’s come back into my daily work conversations and apparently my taste isn’t so bad.
so, here's what’s on my moodboard at the moment. this is constantly being updated because creativity and ‘good taste’ isn’t static.

if you’re not on your own moodboard, what are you doing?
naturally, there’s a new episode of I HAVE NOTES
When Louis Vuitton launched their influencer campaign for the new Neverfull a few months ago, I found the reactions extremely interesting.
It proved a point that I'm always thinking about: having a big budget isn't going to solve all your business and marketing problems.
You need more than that, you need the Art of Finesse: thinking about the creative angle that makes the most sense for your campaign, and usually, that may be the most unexpected one.
Your sub stack gives me life. I texted you some time ago actually! Let me know if you still have the same number! x
Loved reading this. I am thinking of applying for a D&ad pencil and this has inspired me!
