“what’s abiola’s archive?” it’s the catchall name for everything on this substack newsletter. all the things I do and think about now live here.
good morning
from the united states’ capital. i’m spending the better half of february stateside which is a new experience for me. i typically work across 2-3 timezones but usually, London is ahead of most of them. being behind timezone-wise feels like I’m playing catch up.

anyway, four things i’ve thoroughly enjoyed so far:
I have an (apparently) niche aversion to posh sunglasses, but these have converted me
Two words: Lobster Roll. thank you Georgetown Seafood. I also forgot how good hushpuppies taste
Travelled for the first time with the Lexxola Mini Jet travel case — felt like I had my life together
Photobooth can never lose its novelty.
Steve Jobs on perseverance
let’s call it monday motivation, shall we?
work vs. life
anu is one of my favourite creators on X. everything she posts seems to align perfectly and this is no exception. there’s an overarching sentiment that work has to be this thing that you hate and are doing begrudgingly.
given that I spent 3 years trying to align my work life with my deepest desires, the hard lines between work and life don’t exist. and I think that’s the way it should be.
work isn’t life, but it’s a good part of my life.
the two shouldn’t be diametrically opposed.
i have notes on: doing what everyone else is doing
What do: Bratz x Cult Gaia, SSENSE x #RHOSLC, UTA x Jonathan Anderson have in common? I promise it's not a trick question. Let's discuss.
We get WAY too distracted trying to follow the crowd, do what our competitors are doing and 'be normal'.
When the biggest, most interesting things happen when you do things that don't actually make sense.
prophecy, gary vee and ‘speaking life’
I don’t know what Gary Vaynerchuk’s spiritual life looks like, but seeing him speak with incredible accuracy into Doechii’s life three years in advance was crazy. watch it below. actual chills
in January last year, a friend who is part of my fortnightly fellowship group gave me a series of prophecies that turned out to be not only accurate but mapped how the trajectory of my life would change.
prophecy = speaking life in its purest form.
‘speaking life’ is a common phrase now on social media but what does it really mean? to me, speaking life into things isn’t really about people who say nice things about you — it’s about calling things to the surface that even you may not be able to perceive yet.
and the most valuable, accurate ones come from God.
it’s always bigger than us, our intentions and the ‘compliments’ we want to pay to each other.
This is such a good letter - love the form and the content ☺️
LOVE the point on prophecy. So so accurate
